I am working on a paper on the possible importance of "deleuzian" philosophy
and thought (including Deleuze & Guattari's joint efforts) for "organisation
theory", be this a term that I find slightly problematic, but then most
disciplinarian auto-definitions are...
The point is that I question the line of work that I have seen here and
there, attempting to apply concepts such as complexity, multitude or
nomadology to a field such as the organising of organisations - or the
organising of knowledge and learning, as I tend to focus upon. Applying
specific concepts to a new field leaves behind, as I see it, important
aspects of the philosophy that would be "improper" for the argument, but
nonetheless important to deal with. As soon as we include, say the fold and
its focus upon movement, speed, and force, there are a number of questions
that pop up, such as the relation between the fold and multitude, the fold
and nomadism, etc. - is the fold always on the side of the multitude and
nomadism? Why would it be?? Etc..
Anyway, I have two questions. One: does anyone know of attempts to go into
what I would call the fundamentals of deleuzian philosophy as a step towards
a "new" field, in order to avoid naïve application of concepts (to me, the
fundamentals of deleuzian philosophy would lie in what I have coined as
"kinematic eventics", but that's a longer story still waiting to be
published)? Two: could anyone come up with thoughts or links to thoughts on
the problem I mention: the independence of the force of the old in relation
to more normative concepts such as the nomad..? Or, put differently: where
does the force of the fol come from, and where is it going? There is, as far
as I have understood it, only an inner determinism in the movements of the
fold, which would make it a totally autocratic and uncontrollable force,
very much in onlict with the normativity of some of the newborn movements in
our semi-globalised world.. please comment, if I am making myself clear
enough at all..
Best,
Oleg
