Long time no hear. Glad to see that you're still around!!
That was well put. I would add that personally I suspect that more violence
has been perpetrated in the name of morality than any other name, and I
think this may well be due to morality arising from the outside, as a
transcendent entity that is rule governed. When something is rule-governed,
it is as if it comes with small print attached--like "if you fail to live up
to this rule you will forfeit any recourse to mercy and will be severely
punished" or some such (I'm not too hot on legaleze). It would be easy
however if morality came in one big wave. Unfortunately, it weaves around
all manner of everyday actions, in the tiniest micro-exchanges,, that seem
to have thin but tenacious threads that connect it to the big Mama-Poppa of
retribution!
