I doubt it. Dear Mr. Life is Full and Rich and Sweet and Beautiful:
Immediately on reading your post, I unsubscribed from the list. But then,
the bile in my blood coming to a boil, I decided to re-subscribe, if only
long enough to take "what for" and, not give it to you, but shove it up
your ass where it belongs. It may not sink into your brain (or, sinking,
find itself quite alone), but at least it will be in the closest possible
proximity to your head.
In forming, a child's ego is delicate and largely undifferentiated from the
parent's. The parent is an abyss into which the child gazes. The abyss
that gazes back becomes the child, and the child becomes the parent ("Your
mum and dad, they fuck you up". . .). In your post you go to some length
to assure us that your reasons for, supposedly, not acting on your
impulses, were of a purely mercenary nature. It appears your "Humanities"
degree was "Humanities" in name only, and has not yet led even to a reading
of "Lolita."
You suppose your child's request to be touched in certain areas gives you
carte blanche to do so. You suppose it is a sexual come-on in the same
way, and the same degree, as such a request would be if it came from an
adult. What if it is? Aside from the fact that that is a lot of
supposing, do you not see the awesome responsibility that goes with being a
parent? Do you suppose, as well, that being a parent gives you license to
licentiousness, and of the most craven kind at that, in the guise of some
ill-considered and plainly lame "theory"?
As you should know, sex is fraught with violence and "will-to-power". As
much tied with aggression as it is with "love," it is not for nothing that
sex is the preserve, or should be, of those old enough, at least, to be
self-sustaining in the world. It has nothing to do with "morals",
necessarily, and everything to do with ethics; ethics, that every parent
with an once of brain or heart should know.
You must be one fucked-up idiot, to think as you do. "Sad" indeed. Do
yourself, and especially your child, a favor - hell, do us all a favor -
check yourself into a mental ward. Or better yet, put a gun to your head
and squeeze.
Doug Thacker
