What's the difference between taking a pre-architecture program and just
beginning an M.Arch. program and dropping out if you don't like it?

Harvard's Graduate School of Design has a pre-professional program that may
be mainly for high school students. That's a little ironic, since Harvard
College doesn't offer undergraduate professional degree programs. Nor
non-professional degrees in professional fields like law and architecture.

More to the point, I personally don't like the biases of Harvard's graduate
program, and all programs have their biases. If I were you, I would look at
faculty members' BUILT work and go to the school where they do the work you
like the best. DON'T, however, go by what they say in print. The most
prolific and compelling writers are often among the ones who are most
insistent that you adopt their philosophy, no matter what preferences you
arrive with. And personally, I would stay away from schools where the
majority of the faculty teach but don't build.
