I think it should be a matter of individual choice. Those who wish their names
known and associated with a particular message will generally sign them, cf
David Sucher and John Massengale. Those who feel "shy" may be more ready to
post anonymously in the first place, and may own their thoughts at a later
point. I think allowing anonymous posting will encourage contributions, but
that any respondent who wants a name simply has to open post a request for a
name. If he or she is polite, they'll include a private e-mail address so the
anonymous poster can write on a more limited basis. This is a forum, not a
socratic method course. Frequently the discussions are technical and seem over
my head, for one, and perhaps too abstruse for some others. That does not nec-
essarily mean we non-architects have nothing valuable to add, even if we may
feel like fools at times. I've enjoyed the discussions here tremendously, and
the few times I've posted I've gotten very helpful comments back. Even so,
sometimes I've felt too intimidated by teh level to toss is a comments that I
thought might be good but wasn't sure of. Does that make sense to anyone else
on this list? Jyl Livengood, livengoo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx (Besides, how would you
feel with an address like livengoo assigned by campus services?)
