spN: is it catching? :) what a question. Euralille is a giant
tranist/urban project so large that even Koolhaas couldn't believe it.
Nor could he believe it when he purposefully proposed outrageous ideas to
solve the design problem and the client didn't blink. Euralille is
symptomatic of the European program that has an absurdity residing within
the program that such figures as Koolhaas need only to scratch the
surface to reveal. Urban spawl and decay are a problem yes, but how do we
design urban sprawl and celebrate the COMPLEXITY instead of be overrun by
it. That was the task facing Rem at Euralille, a transit centre of
Piranesian ana-dimension.  Not being a job to turn down, this is a
program that tells us much about our culture. Not a project that avails
itself to any easy criticism.
