Ironically, many of those 'slums' - nineteenth century back to back
terrace houses - became the 'gentrified' des. res. of the eighties
(replete with dual income owners and Volkswagen Golf GTi parked in
the street outside).
The neo-Corbu developments, OTOH, became the slums - the 'problem
estates' - of the eighties and nineties. Far from having pianos in
the living room, they were more likely to display signs of
dilapidation and deprivation.
