In the 1950's, I think, Heinekin (sp) beer company produced their product
in what could be best described as brick-bottles. They were made to fit
end-to-end and would be made available to those who needed them via the trash
and ground where the bottles would end up. The buildings which were
constructed (of which I think only one or two were 'examples') were
insulated by the layer of air between the layers of glass that made up the
bottle, and were constructed on such a way (the bottles) that the method
for putting together shelters was the same as for laying up brick. One
could ask whether or not this was a viable method for the supposed indigent
homebuilders to use, but the production run for the brick-bottles was
quite short. There is a write-up on the house in an old 'Record.'
