I strongly recommend the book, *Miracle Under the Oaks*, by William K.
Stevens, a science reporter for the NYT, to anyone interested in "design
with nature" and/or organic architecture. There is nothing in it about
architecture, per se; the book is about restoration ecology in general
and more specifically about the community-based restoration of prairie
and savannah in Chicago. But if you hurt your brain a little, the book
provides some interesting fuel to thinking about community planning.
