Whether it is one medium or another, the medium has an affect on the
designer and the resultant design. The "mark" of the human on the design
becomes more distantly removed by the tool used in the making of the design.
Could it be that a closer relationship between the human mark and the
medium brings out a more clear view of the human presence in the design?
Is or ability to see this relationship blurred by all the design artifacts
that surround us in our environment? Do we stereotypically grab for the
machine tool to make the design rather than directly touching the medium
for building the artifact? I am curious about your thoughts. . .Howard
