I suppose there are many words in our language/usage that derive from
the Old Testament.

The Hebrew for 'covenant' is BREET. In modern Hebrew, it's one of the
words that make up 'the United States': ARTZOT HA-BREET, or 'Lands of
the Covenant', as well as 'circumcision': BREET MEELA, the 'covenant of birth'.
