I completely agree with Henry. The Dreyfus book is one of the best
places to start. Also, I would suggest going to other commentaries
first, rather than digging into late Heidegger (Poetry, Language,
Metaphysics, etc.).

Oddly enough, I might also recommend another Dreyfus book: "What
Computers Still Can't Do" (certainly not as the only book, but as an
interesting suppliment to BT). I know it sounds a little crazy, but
Dreyfus has a peculiar way of accessing Heidegger through his arguments
against Artificial Intelligence. Maybe it's just me, but I found that it
illuminated parts of Heidegger that previously seemed quite dark (and I
know there will be others who would argue here -- but what the hey?).
