Rene,

I think I have been quoting from _On Certainty_. I have been tracking
idealization and its relation to the retreat of Being. Wittengstein's
learning process which he describes as an ostensive teaching has a
moment in it which is a sort of "ah... I see experience" where a whole
network of relations suddenly become apparent and the learner of a
piece of music for instance knows how to go on without looking at the
grounds and reasons for playing a piece the way it's played. Playing
becomes an instinctive habit. One is just absorbed in a function that
structures action. The other thing is that posting I am saying is not
unlike playing music in a group, not exactly a symphonic harmonizing
band but say an improvisational jazz tribe. Micheal Staples recent post
is a 'good example' of associative free play. Mr. Hegemony-Talk on the
other hand is beating a retreat to the _bunker_ of elitist
communications lost in the details of jargonizing discourse that have
nothing to do with the ordinary table-talks of everyday life and
fantasies, nostalgias and hopes. I am sorely lacking his loving attention.

I feel heart-broken Rene...

Idealization is also at work when a thinker attempts to master another
person's writting through communication that builds on the pathos of
consensus on the referent of the writer. Or one simply projects one's
own conscience on the writer if one is critical and judgemental,
seeing the horns of the beast through universalizing definition that
attempts to name the evil one which one ought to purify from
discourse, say "American sociology" or "American pragmatism". Of
course the referent has to remain a complete mystery and veiled in
the aura of a broad generalization that stigmatizes the
universalizing naming with the sense of the untouchable.

Since at best there is local and temporary consensus that are never
stable but fluctuate and go through metamorphosis communications on the
fly, first-draft quality and out she goes... email communications are
like improvisational jazz. I can see something familiar in what
someone writes but that is like understanding in Wittengstein that
catches a rhythmic flow of associations, a melody that sets a keyboard
on fire, digressing in a tensive manner by a formula that is already
learnt and which doesn't involve the stoppage of a "should I do this?"
or "should I do that?", a decision making process is completely
irrelevant, you just obey an instinctive, vital impulse. Somehow
phrases know how to go on spontaneously. Performative action over the
desert of the screen is just like this, always aiming at the silence
of a private language game shaping sensation into a picture in order
to make a comparison with a reality that escapes us, leaves us dumber
than a door nail. A phrase never arrives at a referent while on idle,
while it goes on holiday and is no longer a representational product,
and in this way, language remains a promise when the senses are sealed
in a casket, or the seeds of a seminal sensible reason are planted in
the desert and who knows how, the imagination conceives a child
mumbling and crying and in need of serious ostensive teaching.

"Do this!" "Do that!" "That's it just like that...."

Ariosto
