I don't know if this has been mentioned before on this list ...
English-speaking readers of Heidegger should be glad to know that Cambridge
University Press has just published a complete translation of the
Gesamtausgabe edition of _Wegmarken_, author's marginalia included. Only a
few of these essays have never before been translated -- the long review of
Jaspers' _Psychology of Worldviews_ and "Hegel and the Greeks" in
particular -- but many of them are scattered in various anthologies and
journals. Important essays such as "Plato's Doctrine of Truth", the essay
on physis in Aristotle, "Kant's Thesis About Being", "On the Essence of
Grounds" (previously translated as "The Essence of Reasons" and long out of
print), and "The Question of Being" are included.
The latter has been retranslated by the volume's editor, William McNeill,
and it's high-time -- the first translation, published in the 50's, is
seriously deficient. McNeill courts controversy by rendering "Verwindung
der Metaphysik" as "recovery of metaphysics", but he supplies a long
endnote justifying his version (arguing that 'metaphysics' should be
understood as the subject of the genitive).
Now if someone would only reprint those essays and sketches from the end of
the _Nietzsche_ volumes ...
