PRESS RELEASE :Coop Himmelb(l)au was in Istanbul for the first ARKIMEET
conference
ARKIMEET, which is a series of conferences that aims to meet internationally
well-known architects with the architectural community in Istanbul, has
begun at the 18th of March, 2003. The first conference of this series was
given by Wolf Prix from Coop Himmelb(l)au and it is followed with great
interest by over a thousand architects.
Wolf Prix gave a one hour lecture, explaining the architectural discourse of
Coop Himmelb(l)au with the examples of some of their recent works. The
lecture was presented totally on digital medium including video images and
animated frames.
The most striking part of the presentation was the last frames in which the
recently won competition project of Aalborg Music House in Denmark was
presented for the first time in the world. This presentation included a 3D
animation of the project which was accompanied with a flowing music. Wolf
Prix stated that music played an important role both on his and on his
partner Helmut Swiczinsky's lives and added that they owed their sucess in
this competition to the role of the music.
After the questions and answers section of the conference, Wolf Prix had a
chance to discuss with his collegues and faculty members at the reception.
Mr.Prix stated that he was amazed by the great number of attendence and also
by the success of the organization.
ARKIMEET conference series is organized by ARKITERA, a well known
information center (www.arkitera.com) for the architectural community in
Turkey. Coop Himmelb(l)au's conference is sponsored by Philips Lighting.
ARKIMEET conferences will continue to host other well known international
architects in Istanbul.
