one idea; i was not too clear about the value of robots until
seeing this, which is assumed to be the result of crawling
sites related to a specific type of content, then extracting
an abstract or key summary, and indexing it:
http://www.geometry.net/scientists/dir_e.html

i wondered if the focus on south asia architecture could
be applied with the crawler on specific topics, like the
urban planning issues recently discussed and slummage
or coverage or biases of certain perspectives, to 'map' the
information by crawling the different perspectives, then
arranging them in relation to their positions with one
another on a common issue (specific urban planning);
then maybe sites like local and national and international
newspapers and media sites would have 'architectural
value' instead of relying upon traditional sources, which
can be often predictable in their silence to critical issues.

how might the crawler or an indices of south asia (wonder
if it is the same as writing 'south asian') architecture sites,
or rather, viewpoints or vantages or ways of approaching
architecture through different media and mentalities, -- is
there some way that this quirky aspect to information and
coverage of architecture can be documented and used in
the process, such that the az crawler may function like the
geometry crawler, finding content and relating it without
a possibly over-arching approach/structure, but from the
ground up, where the crawl begins... and might it begin
in specific and local or critical situations, and map out
from there... that is what has me curious. not sure that it
has been done, automated, cannot imagine anyone else
in architecture has been doing it as most things follow a
hand-compiled/edited list or a submittals yet a robot that
goes for free-association (within limits) might be interesting.

some thoughts. brian
