DUTCH WAVE IN ARKIMEET

ARKIMEET conference series organized by Arkitera Architecture Center is
strengthening its position in the international architectural agenda and now
hosts Contemporary Dutch Architecture.

ARKIMEET conferences started off with a mission of providing the needed
international discussion platform for Turkish architectural and design
community. The discussion platform not only plays an important role in the
contemporary Turkish architecture, but also carries Istanbul to
international architectural agenda as well.

ARKIMEET 2003 enabled the meeting of thousands of architects, academicians
and student with the visions of the internationally acclaimed architects.
The visits of world-renowned architects started with Wolf Prix, co-founder
of Coop Himmelb(l)au. The series continued with the conferences of Dominique
Perrault and Massimiliano Fuksas.

ARKIMEET conferences are now heading off with a new series in 2004 which is
likely to attract quite a lot of attention in Turkish architectural
community. The binding theme of the 2004 conferences is "Contemporary Dutch
Architecture" which is recognised as on of the most important focal points
of today's contemporary architecture.

In this respect, the founder-architects of the architectural offices, UN
Studio, West8, Neutlings and Riedijk and Mecanoo which are regarded to be
among the best representitives of today's Dutch architecture as well as to
be followed with interest internationally, are invited to Istanbul to give
lectures in the context of ARKIMEET 2004.

Arkitera Architecture Center has been established in 2000 in Istanbul,
Turkey. This independent initiative aims to develop the architectural
culture in Turkey and raise awareness to the quality of the built
environment by means of organizing exhibitions, symposiums, lectures,
workshops, radio programs and discussion panels. The Center's key advantage
lies in the effective use of internet by which over 20.000 architects,
