"La Fondazione é creata con Io scopo di svolgere un'azione di
sensibilizzazione e promozione nel campo della " chiesa costruita ",
affinché vengano attuate le qualità artistiche e mistiche tese a fare
dello spazio sacro un luogo di esaltazione spirituale". Con questo
intento la Fondazione istituisce un premio quadriennale di 150.000,00
euro da assegnare al progettista o all' artista che abbia realizzato
la migliore opera sacra nell' ultimo decennio nell' ambito delle
confessioni cristiane o che, con l'intero proprio operato, abbia
contribuito in maniera determinante alla significazione del sacro
nell' ambito dell' architettura cristiana moderna.

NORME DI PARTECIPAZIONE
La Fondazione Frate Sole indice la terza edizione del Premio
Internazionale di Architettura Sacra rivolto a tutti i progettisti di
qualsiasi nazionalità, che abbiano realizzato un edificio per il culto
nell'ultimo decennio nell'ambito delle confessioni cristiane. Pertanto
si invitano gli interessati all'invio diretto della documentazione
richiesta al seguente indirizzo:

Ai fini organizzativi si escludono contatti telefonici. Eventuali

Per l'invio del materiale si prega di attenersi rigorosamente ai
seguenti criteri:
· Cognome, nome e indirizzo del o dei progettisti, numero
telefonico, fax ed eventuale e-mail
· Disegni della chiesa (piante, prospetti, sezioni) nel formato
A3 con la denominazione e l'indirizzo preciso del luogo in cui sorge.
Sono esclusi disegni di grande formato, anche se piegati.
· Documenti o dichiarazione del progettista che attestino
l'inizio dei lavori successivo alla data del 4 ottobre 1994 e l'avvenuta
ultimazione dei lavori.
· Fotografie a colori: n° 5 di interni e n° 5 di esterni nel
formato 20 x 20 cm oppure 20 x 30 cm, e relative diapositive a colori.
· Breve relazione illustrativa del progetto, scritta in italiano
o in inglese.
È possibile inviare i disegni e le fotografie della chiesa, oltre che su
supporto cartaceo, anche su CD-ROM.
Termine di presentazione del materiale: 31 maggio 2004 (fa fede la data
del timbro di spedizione).
Il materiale dovrà essere inviato all'indirizzo sopra citato a mezzo
lettera raccomandata con ricevuta di ritorno o tramite altro servizio di
spedizione che comunque assicuri l'avvenuta invio dei documenti entro il
termine fissato.
La III edizione del Premio Internazionale di Architettura Sacra "Frate
Sole" verrà consegnato il 4 ottobre 2004, festività di S. Francesco
d'Assisi, presso l'Università degli Studi di Pavia.
La documentazione non verrà restituita, ma conservata nell'archivio
della Fondazione.
La Fondazione stessa si riserva il diritto di esporre gli elaborati
nonché di utilizzare il materiale illustrativo e grafico per
pubblicazioni, senza nulla dovere ai progettisti.

To this end, the "Frate Sole" Foundation has set up an Award to the
value of 150.000,00 Euro, to be conferred at four-yearly intervals on
the architect or artist of any Christian confession who in the course of
the ten preceding years has been responsible for an ecclesiastical
building of undoubted excellence. Any such architect or artist who over
the course of his whole activity has made a decisive contribution in
this same field will likewise be elegible for the Award.*

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
All professional operators in the field of whatever nationality may
enter the Competition, on condition that they have during the course of
the ten preceding years realized a building destined for the worship of
a Christian community of whatever persuasion. All those interested are
invited to send their application fully documented to the following
address:

For organizational purposes telephone contact should be avoided; all

The following norms should be scrupulously observed when transmitting
material and documentation:
· Surname, name and address must be provided, with telephone and
fax numbers.
· Drawings of the church (plan prospect and section) in the A3
size should be accompanied by its denomination and by the exact address
of the place in which it is situated.
· Documents must be provided to prove that work on the building
began after October 4th 1994 and that it has since been terminated.
· Five color photographs of the interior and five of the
exterior (size: 20 x 20 cm. or 20 x 30 cm) must be accompanied by their
corresponding slides in color.
· Short illustrative relation of the work, written in Italian or
English.
It is demanded that the designs and the photographies of the church are
send on paper support and on CD-ROM too.
Final date for transmission of this material: May 31st 2004 (as
documented by the postmark at the place of origin).
All this material should be sent by recommended letter reply paid or by
some similar means which will offer proof that the documents in question
have started in time to their destination.
The "Frate Sole" International Prize for Sacred Architecture III Edition
will be assigned on October 4th, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi,
in the University of Pavia, Italy.
All documents submitted for the Competition will not be returned but
conserved in the archives of the Foundation.
The Foundation reserves the right to show in public the projects
submitted for the Prize and to make use of the relative illustrative and
graphic material for eventual publication without effecting payment.
