Assocham may watch over Safdarjung Tomb

New Delhi, January 20: Safdarjung Tomb could soon be taken over by a
trade body for beautification and upkeep. The Delhi government is quite
keen on a proposal to this effect made by the Associated Chambers of
Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM).
This was the outcome of a summit on tourism held here on January 15
which was attended by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Estimates on
sprucing up heritage sites and the role of industry bodies were
discussed. The Delhi government is in the process of taking up the
matter with the Union Urban Development Ministry and the Ministry of
Culture and a formal nod is expected shortly, said officials.
