Hello Colleagues,

I am a landscape architecture design student with a
background in electrical and rehabilitation
engineering. I am currently staying in Delhi and plan
on traveling throughout india for the next five
months.

My partner and I are presenting at the "Deaf Women's
Cultural Conference" on Technology, Design and
Empowerment between February 10th and 14th. We plan
traveling south and will fly out of Chennai in early
July.

I currently work for the Center for Accessible
Technology (www.cforat.org). Through my work in
rehabilitation, I have been able to work on a wide
array of design projects from bathroom and
entranceways to websites and software interfaces.
Most recently, I was a design consultant for
Berkeley?s Ed Roberts Campus(www.edrobertscampus.org),
a building that will champion concepts of universal
design while housing nine disability-related
organizations. I have also consulted with Hearth
Homes(www.hearthhomes.org), a bay-area organization
that designs and develops affordable, accessible
residential units.

While my studies are currently focused on Landscape
Architecture, I plan on studying affordable and
accessible public spaces and community buildings. I
would like to work with agencies that are transferring
designs and technology to and from developing nations.

I would very much like to volunteer my time with a
group that is working to help in the post-tsunami
reconstruction efforts. Are you aware of any
organizations that are in need of additional
design/build staff?

If not, are you familiar with other regional resources
that I should explore?

I would also love to get your perspective on the best
way for someone with my experience to assist in the
relief work.

Thank you very much for your time.

Cheers.

Jamie Osborne, BEE, ATP
