I would like inform you that the exhibition SPOT ON SCHOOLS will open in
Florence, Italy on December 1st 2005.

I am especially satisfied for hosting inside the suggestive space of the
Stazione Leopolda the works produced by 17 of the most outstanding
schools of architecture and design in the world that explore the
influence the new technologies have on the various phases of a design,
starting from the very act of creative conception. Among the
institutions participating in SPOT ON SCHOOLS 2005 are: Architectural
Association, London, UK; Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pa,
USA; Clemson University, Clemson, Sc, USA; Columbia University, New
York, USA; Eth Zurich, Switzerland; Fabrica, Catena Di Villorba (Tv),
Italy; Hosei University, Tokyo, Japan; Instituto Superior Técnico,
Lisbon, Portugal; Miami University, Oxford, Oh, USA; Naba, Milan, Italy;
National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan; Pratt Institute,
Brooklyn, NY, USA; Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA; SCI-Arc
(Southern California Institute Of Architecture), Los Angeles, CA, USA;
UC Berkeley, CA, USA; Università La Sapienza, Rome, Italy; University Of
Applied Arts Vienna, Austria.

As you probably know, the program of BEYOND MEDIA (the larger event
hosting the exhibition SPOT ON SCHOOLS) is online at this address:

The BEYOND MEDIA festival has always paid particular attention, ever
since its early editions, to the works developed within the schools of
architecture. With SPOT ON SCHOOLS a more structured mode of
investigation has been established that also aims at turning this
Florence venue into a place for a constructive dialogue, where the
various positions expressed by the participating schools are discussed
and divulged. To this purpose, a significant part of the SPOT ON SCHOOLS
program are the SPECIAL LECTURES offered by some of the participating
instructors, which will be held at the Stazione Leopolda in the week of
December 5th-12th. Upon this exchange platform the exhibit -that has now
become a stable appointment within the BEYOND MEDIA festival- can
further pursue its activity of connection, enhancement and divulgation
of the most significant didactic experiences.

I look forward to the possibility of starting a collaboration also with
your institution, possibly on the next edition of SPOT ON SCHOOLS. And I
hope to personally meet you in Florence, should you be able to come for
a few days to attend the events.

Best Regards,

Paola Giaconia
curator, SPOT ON SCHOOLS exhibit
