The mission will consist of two submissions: one on urban infrastructure
and governance and the other on basic services to the urban poor.
A combined investment by Central Government, State Governments and the
urban local bodies of more than Rs. one lakh crore is proposed to be
spent on this programme over the next seven years.
| ahmedabad gets about 700 crore per year, for example. CEPT University

| central government pessures.

NEW DELHI, DEC 13: Funds allocated to states such as Gujarat and
Karnataka under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small
and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), Accelerated Urban Water Supply Programme
(AUWSP) and Infrastructure Development in Mega Cities have not been
fully utilised. Since subsequent installments of Central assistance are
released only after utilisation certificates of earlier releases are
furnished by the state governments along with physical and financial
progress reports, the outlook for projects under the schemes is bleak.
So far no state has come forward with proposals seeking Central
assistance under the Rs 50,000 crore Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban
Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in accordance with the guidelines after its
high profile launch by the Prime Minister on December 3.
