Tragedy building architect denies killing 14 people

A Nairobi architect was yesterday arraigned in court charged with
killing 14 people as a result of the collapse of a building in the city
last month.

Mrs Muigai said that the police feared the accused was likely to
interfere with ongoing investigations, if released on bond.
The court was similarly told that Kihonge had gone underground when the
building collapsed and it took the initiative of the investigating
officers to seek his warrant of arrest.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused could not be trusted with
a bond, since he refused to disclose to the police reasons why he went
into hiding when the tragedy occurred.
