Lack of architect likely cause of church collapse

Initial findings in the cause of the collapse of Cedar Grove Methodist Protestant Church on Thursday night point to the lack of professional expertise in construction.

State Fire Marshall spokesperson Regan Ingram said the church appeared to be constructed without professional consultation and in violation of state building codes.

"The building was not architecturally designed which is required by state law," Ingram said. "In speaking with church elders on the scene, investigators found that these plans were actually found online."
