Goa Niwas to feature local architecture

PANJIM, JUNE 30-The foundation stone for new Goa Niwas at Chanakyapuri
in New Delhi will be laid on July 5 by Union Minister for Urban
Development, S. Jaipal Reddy in the presence of Chief Minister
Pratapsingh Rane, PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavlikar and Chief
Secretary, J P Singh.
The Goa Niwas project has been designed by the architects M.S. Kothari
Associates, New Delhi. The scheme is of ground plus three structures.
The ground floor consists of main entrance, lobby, shops, gym, and
kitchen dinning and small swimming pool with landscape. Provision of
adequate parking is made on the ground floor as well as basement is
provided for other utility such as generator, storage, laundry purpose etc.
The first and second floor of the building contain rooms with attached
toilets and four dormitories. Two of the four dormitories are of 60
square metres. each and the balance areas of 35 square metres each.
The capacity of the dormitory is of 40 beds. There are 20 rooms
accommodating 40 beds on first and second floor. The structure consists
of 2 lifts for entire floor, in addition facilities of library
admeasuring 50 square metres provided on the second floor. Third floor
of exclusively for VVIP’s consists of five suits comprising of living,
dinning and bedroom with attached toilet.
The main feature of the project will be its Goan architecture with
Mangalore tiles roofing, plaster band and old R.C.C. ballusters with
R.C.C. coping. The total area of the building including basement is 4100
square. metres. The total area is 3003 square. metres.

New museum to come up in Srinagar
Srinagar, June 30: Jammu and Kashmir government has given the green
light for construction of a new museum here and sought global tenders
for its designing.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad approved the site for construction of
the museum at Lal Mandi here.
The new building would be at par with international museum standards and
represent the traditional architecture of Kashmir, an official spokesman
said.
He said the proposed museum would be adjacent to Shri Partap Singh
Museum, Srinagar on and have all modern facilities including central
heating and electrical system, landscaping and interior designing.
Director Archives, Archeology and Museums Department S K A Qadri has
invited local and international architects registered with the Council
of Architecture, New Delhi to participate in the limited design competition.
Honorarium would be paid to the selected entry.
