Now, as the assembly readies for the budget session from Saturday,
changes have been made in the seating arrangement to ensure security of
both the CM and the leader of opposition — both have been placed on
either side of the Speaker's podium.
However, Jaya has taken exception to it, charging Karunanidhi, a
rationalist, of using vaastu in the House. She claimed this was "against
Parliamentary conventions and precedents" and accused Karunanidhi of
making the changes without the nod of the House .
"According to information available with me, Karunanidhi is presently
under the complete influence of vaastu-shastra. It appears that he
doesn't spend much time in chief minister's chamber as it is situated in
a place not conducive to his stars.
For this reason, he is functioning from the room where cabinet meetings
used to be conducted," she said in a statement on Monday.However,
Speaker R Avudaiyappan condemned the statement.

"Karunanidhi a self proclaimed rationalist and also wears a yellow
shawl. Isn't it a superstition,"said Dr V Maitreyan, AIADMK spokesperson.
"My leader is a follower of Periyar and his rationalist ideals. Vaasthu
may be their idea," said R Auvudaiappan, Speaker, Tamil Nadu Assembly.
