From its earliest beginnings to its modern day form, the bath has
evolved with the changing needs and desires of humanity. On October 5,
bathroom fittings manufacturer Dornbracht and plumbing supplier AF
Supply NY will present “Ritual Architecture:
"hilosophy….practice…perception…perspective,” an event exploring the
evolution of the bath. Held at New York’s Hotel Gansevoort, the dialogue
will be lead by a panel of industry experts.
The panel will address the nature of the bath, from cultural to
historical relevance to its transformation from utilitarian to spiritual
retreat. Participants include: William Braham, associate chair,
department architecture, University of Pennsylvania; Andreas Dornbracht,
managing director, Dornbracht; Bennett Friedman, principal, AF New York;
Mike Meiré, essayist, designer, and principal of Cologne-based Meiré und
Meiré; Robin Osler, principal, EOA Architects, New York.
The even will run from 6pm-8pm, and will be followed by a reception in
the adjoining G Spa & Lounge. The Hotel Gansevoort is located at 18
Ninth Avenue at 13th Street. AIA/NYS Credits will be available.
