'Highrises don't suit Dharavi slum dwellers'

MUMBAI: Will the Dharavi rehabilitation project be a boon for slum
dwellers or just another multi-crore business opportunity for builders?
The state's policy of gifting free houses to slum dwellers has been
mired in controversy ever since it was introduced by the Shiv Sena-BJP
government a decade ago.
Slum Rehabilitation Authority officials said 25% of the families, who
have been given accommodation in about 60,000 free tenements through
various schemes, have illegally sold their houses and moved out.
