OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL IDEAS COMPETITION “VALENCIA
DEL MAR-MARINA REAL JUAN CARLOS I”
The president of Consorcio Valencia 2007 and mayoress of Valencia, Rita
Barberá, will officially present, accompanied by the vice-president and
Regional Minister of Economy, Gerardo Camps, the International Ideas
Competition “Valencia del Mar-Marina Real Juan Carlos I”.
The announcement will take place at Palazzo Zorzi, current UNESCO Office
in Venice, on the 16th October at 12.30 pm.
Apart from the official presentation and a later press conference all
the assistants will visit the exposition of the Competition located in
the same building.
This International Ideas Competition is the first major project
undertaken as a consequence of the 32nd America’s Cup in Valencia. With
a scope of approximately 1.35 million square metres, this presentation
is without doubt one of the largest urban design and planning
competitions in the world. The result will be a fundamental reworking of
the structure of Valencia in addition to the creation of connections
from the city to its new urban port area. This challenge requires the
creativity and prestige of the only best urban planners, who will
transform Valencia into one of the most important and beautiful nautical
tourist destinations on the Mediterranean in the light of this huge
sporting event.

· Rita Barberá Nolla, President of Consorcio Valencia 2007 and
Mayoress of Valencia.
· Architect Fabian Llisterri, representative of the National
Government of Spain in Consorcio Valencia 2007.
· Gerardo Camps, second Vice-president of Consorcio Valencia 2007
and Regional Minister of Economy.
13.30 Visit to the exposition. Palacio Zorzi.
14.00 Buffet lunch.
