The Second Living Steel International Architecture Competition for
Sustainable Housing closes for expressions of interest on 12 January
2007. The competition is a unique opportunity for architects to bring
their vision for innovative and responsible housing design and
construction, to life. Along with prize money of €50,000 for each
winning design, and €10,000 honorarium for other finalists, winning
designs from the second competition will be built in Brazil, China and
the United Kingdom. The competition is open to architectural firms of
all sizes and location.
The Living Steel International Architecture Competitions for Sustainable
Housing is a series of competitions aimed at inspiring architects to
develop efficient and effective housing solutions with the winning
designs being constructed as practical and working demonstrations.
As the world’s growing population places increasing pressure on
infrastructure, communities and the quality of life of urban
populations, designers are being encouraged to incorporate more
responsible and sustainable aspects into their designs.
Architects are invited to submit an Expression of Interest for the
second competition online at www.livingsteel.org by 12 January 2007.
Competition Details
Prize: €300,000 total prize fund - €50,000 for each winning design, and
€10,000 honorarium for other finalists.
Jury: Glenn Murcutt, Charles Correa, Jamie Lerner, Andrew Ogorzalek,
James Berry and Nicholas de Monchaux.
Deadline: Expressions of Interest close: 12 January 2007.

Finalist competition entries due 14 May 2007
Winners will be announced in September 2007.
