MCD harassing citizens: BJP
Staff Reporter
"No regularisation, no new plans"
NEW DELHI: Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party councillors on Monday
accused the Congress-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi of harassing
the Capital's citizens by neither regularising their unauthorised
constructions nor passing the new building plans as per the Centre's new
notification pertaining to new building by-laws.
Raising the issue at the MCD House meeting, Leader of the Opposition
Subhash Arya said changes were made in the building by-laws by the
Centre through its September 22 notification. It not only relaxed the
building by-laws but also allowed regularisation of unauthorised
constructions as per new norms, he said.

However, not satisfied with his answer, members of opposition benches
rushed towards the Mayor's chair shouting slogans against the ruling
Congress and demanding an immediate reply to a question raised by them
on a particular clause in the notification.
When the commissioner said he would furnish the reply by next morning,
they created a ruckus and disrupted proceedings of the House.
Contending that there was no need for seeking any clarifications from
the Union Government, BJP leader of Opposition Subhash Arya said, "The
very fact that the MCD building plan committee did not meet even for a
single day during the last three months shows that they are not serious
About the hardships being faced by the people."
Arya also demanded that regularisation charges for unauthorised
constructions be reduced and further roads notified for mixed land use
purposes.
