National Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis - 2006

COA & NIASA are organising an Awards Program for Excellence in Architectural Thesis amongst students of undergraduate architecture colleges of India, recognised by COA, who have submitted and cleared their thesis. The awards program shall showcase the best design works from across the country, and create better appreciation of architectural design concerns by becoming a public event, where stalwarts from the field of architecture are involved in choosing the winners, in an open jury attended by the general public. The award will bring pride, glory & enthusiasm for the students and colleges of architecture, and simultaneously act as a public awareness event, to promote the subject of architecture.



ELIGIBILITY:

A bonafide student of final year B.Arch, for academic session 2005-06 and having appeared for the final year B.Arch examination at the end of academic session 2005-06 shall be eligible to participate in the awards program.



SALIENT FEATURES:

1. Participating colleges have been grouped into 5 Zones based on their geographical location and accessibility.



2. Each college will send maximum 2 best projects for participation.



3. Stage 1 - ZONAL LEVEL

Stage 1a - A team of assessors shall shortlist 10 thesis projects from each Zone.

Stage 1b - The Students will present their work at an Open Jury attended by Eminent Citizens, Architects & Students. A Jury consisting of Eminent Architects will select 2 projects from amongst the 10 shortlisted from each Zone (for the National Level), at the open jury, held at respective Zones.



4. Stage 2 - NATIONAL LEVEL

The 10 selected Students will present their work at an Open Jury attended by Eminent Citizens, Architects & Students. A Jury of Eminent Architects will select the National Level Winners from amongst the finalists at the Jury.



5. A Public Exhibition of participating projects will be held at both Zonal & National Level, simultaneously with the Open Jury.



AWARDS:

3 National Winners - Prizes worth Rs.60,000/- each (Consisting of Cash & Books)

Remaining 7 Finalists - Prizes worth Rs.20,000/- each (Consisting of Cash & Books)



Travel Allowance will be paid to all National Finalists, as per COA norms, for attending National Jury



IMPORTANT DATES:

• Announcement – 15th November 2006 (Wednesday)

• Submission by – 30th December 2006

• Short-listing at Zonal Level by – 15th January 2007

• Zonal Jury – 27th January 2007 (Saturday)

• National Jury – 10th February 2007 (Saturday)

• Awards Ceremony – 11th February 2007 (Sunday)
