For clearing constructions, owners to give report card
Express News Service

New Delhi, December 20: The MCD will introduce a self-assessment scheme by next week to fast track the regularisation of unauthorised construction as per the buildings norms amended by the Urban Development Ministry in September.

As per the scheme, property owners trying to get illegal portions of their buildings regularised according to the September 20 amendments to building bylaws will now have to submit a building plan certified by a registered architect and an affidavit with the civic body promising to comply with the new norms. The architects too will have to submit undertakings of compliance.

The owners will be allowed two months to pull down the unauthorised part voluntarily instead of the MCD having to take any action against the property.
