Now, recycling meets rag-picking by design
Express News Service
Ahmedabad, January 29: A waste Recycling Research Centre along the
river-front, opposite Calico Mill plot in Paldi, is a tribute to the
hundreds of rag-pickers who make a living out of recycling waste
materials. Conceptualised by Kartikeya C, a student of CEPT, as part of
his final-year thesis, the architectural design is part of the
exhibition that is running at the CEPT University.
The exhibition that showcases nine architectural designs from different
institutes in the country is also a part of the Awards Programme for
Excellence in Architectural Thesis organised by the National Institute
of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), an academic wing of Council
of Architecture (COA). The nine theses are vying at each of the five
zones from where two projects will participate in the open jury held in
Hyderabad, where three best entries will be made the National Winners on
March 3.
