watchdogs: Police Memorial will be dismantled

New Delhi: The Group of Ministers on Tuesday announced the dismantling 
of the Police Memorial at Chankyapuri, Delhi, and proposed to construct 
a new memorial after a due proposal to the Delhi Urban Arts Commission 
and subsequent approval from the authorities concerned.

The GoM had been constituted on the matter after various quarters raised 
objections to the structure, saying that the memorial was not in line 
with the aesthetic and architectural character of Lutyens' Delhi and 
that it would block Rashtrapati Bhavan's view from Shanti Path.
