VietNamNet Bridge – Many foreign investors from around the globe are
sinking their money and tastes into Vietnam's property sector.
As a result the nation's cityscapes are expanding, influenced by a mix
of different architectural styles. VIR's Bich Ngoc explores whether such
an eclectic urban tapestry will eventually unravel.
Potential homeowners are being pulled in by advertisements from property
developers offering the chance to view mock-ups of proposed modem
international apartment complexes.

Experts agree that the government must devise clear and effective
regulations regarding zoning and construction. "The forming of
architecture space will be an essential factor for all foreign
architects to follow whenever they work in Vietnam," Tri said.
Foreign architects are also being urged to throughly study the
traditional customs and hobbies of local people. "I may say not all of
them, but most of them do this," Tri said.
Tri said that when the French first arrived in Vietnam many decades ago,
they paid attention to the environment and climate of the country.
"As you can see in many French constructions, the style is quite
suitable for the Vietnamese climate's high humidity," Tri said.
Climate and feng shui are two most important aspects that architects in
Tri's company pay attention to whenever they design a project.
"Styles from South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore or others are modern
architecture and they are a heritage of the whole world, therefore they
set a trend and a direction for all countries and following
generations," said Tri.
