Boudewijn Poelmann, chairman of the BankGiro Lottery, announced that the
Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) is to become a permanent
beneficiary for the next five years, making the NAI one of the 20 new
members to join the ranks of the cultural institutions that already
benefit from a structural financial donation from the BankGiro Lottery.
In conferring donations on 20 new members, the BankGiro Lottery aims to
provide an important stimulus to the integrated national museum
collections of the Netherlands (Collectie Nederland). The NAI intends to
use the donation of € 300,000 a year from the lottery for activities
connected with its collection and presentation.
Deputy director Patrick van Mil: "We are delighted. This is a tremendous
support for our aim of making the NAI collection accessible to a broad
public. The major retrospective that we are organising in the autumn on
P.J.H. Cuypers, the architect of the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central
Station, is a good example. This exhibition will enable the public to
experience the beauty and richness of the Dutch architectural heritage."
