Let the show begin

et-Lumiere is set to take off on Sunday. Here’s all that went into its
making

THE stage is set, the lights in place and the sounds ready to be heard.
It’s been in the making for almost two years now and finally, the
45-minute show conceptualised by India Tourism Development Corporation
(ITDC) for Chandigarh Tourism will be showcased at the Museum and Art
Gallery, Sector 10. While the formal launch happens on Sunday with the
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues doing the
honours, we got in touch with the show’s producer Chandni Luthra, also
Vice President of ITDC on all that went into the making of Son et Lumiere.
“This project truly is unique than anything ITDC has done in the past -
be it the first sound and light show which was started at Red Fort in
New Delhi in 1965 or at the Golconda Fort in Hyderabad or the most
recent one in Port Blair’s Cellular Jail. The Chandigarh show is unique
for it relates to a contemporary subject unlike the historic ones that
are primarily the subject matter for such shows,” explains Luthra.
