Education City planning a branch campus
Published: Saturday, 17 March, 2007, 08:58 AM Doha Time

QATAR Foundation’s Education City, currently spread over around 12mn sq m, is establishing a branch in the north of the country, on a 7mn sq m plot, it has been revealed.

“Coming up somewhere on the North Road, the branch campus would be ready in three years,” Qatar Foundation (QF) vice president (capital projects and facilities), Saad al-Muhannadi told Gulf Times in an interview.

The facility, in design phase now, is to house a proposed higher education military school and civil aviation university, apart from the permanent buildings for the Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA).

“Negotiations are on with various schools (from abroad) for setting up the military school, and the civil aviation university would be independent of the government,” he explained.

QLA, established in 2005 in partnership with Qatar Armed Forces and the 122 year-old St John’s Northwest Military Academy, Wisconsin, is now functioning from a temporary yet modern facility at Al Khor.
