NEW DELHI: Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage and AusHeritage, a leading Australian heritage network, signed a memorandum of understanding here on Monday to collaborate on cultural heritage initiatives.

The MoU, signed at the inaugural session of a three-day Australia-India seminar on "Managing and Conserving Cultural Heritage", will expand collaboration between AusHeritage and INTACH to work together more closely in South Asian and South East Asia regional initiatives.

Australian High Commissioner to India John McCarthy said the MoU signalled the close and growing collaboration between our two countries in preserving cultural heritage, adding: "AusHeritage has worked with INTACH and other Indian institutions on several projects including workshops and training sessions in recent years."

AusHeritage joins Austrade in export seminar

On Friday, 27 June 2003, AusHeritage in association with Austrade held a half-day seminar at the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development, Grosvenor Place, Sydney, on the exporting potential of Australia’s cultural heritage services. It presented a dynamic environment for AusHeritage members currently working in cultural heritage management in neighbouring regions to meet with industry representatives engaged in project tendering and implementation. A panel of experts from government, industry and the cultural heritage professions highlighted:

* Key issues for regional exporters
* Challenges in the current political and economic climate
* Support mechanisms and tools for engagement
* Australia’s forward strategies for international export activities.
