Sandy Wilson, or more properly Professor Sir Colin St John Wilson, who
has just died, will always be remembered as the architect of the British
Library. Likened to a "secret police headquarters" by the Prince of
Wales - it is nothing of the sort, assuming, indeed, that there is a
recognisable style for secret police headquarters - the library occupied
Wilson's attentions for 35 years.
