Mumbai: Only in recent years are Mumbai's beaches, which have always
looked like neglected backyards, are gradually being given a facelift
and this time it is the Dadar-Mahim shoreline that could see some happy
changes in the future.
Now ridden with a layer of plastic bags and garbage, especially visible
at low tide, and the sewage lines emptying out the slush here, the 4.5
km Dadar-Prabhadevi-Mahim coast truly needs a makeover. What this narrow
seafront will undergo is "enrichment through beach nourishment
technology to create a new beach," says R.A. Rajeev, Additional
Municipal Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
