PANJIM, JULY 12 – Even as the Goa College of Art students called off
their boycott of classes after the CM’s assurance on their grievances on
Thursday, it’s now the Goa College of Architecture students who have
given a call for boycotting classes from Friday.
Addressing reporters outside the college premises in Altinho, here,
Cultural Secretary of Students Council of the college Abhijit Gaonkar
declared, “We are boycotting classes from tomorrow to protest against
the lethargic attitude of the Directorate of Technical Education towards
us. It’s going to be a ‘silent’ boycott though.”
Talking on the college’s ‘No Admission’ status for 2007-2008 declared by
the Council of Architecture, Abhijit asserted that the Government was
not doing enough to satisfy the council norms. “They have not fulfilled
four main conditions of the CoA, which include appointment of full-time
principal, faculty, visiting faculty and infrastructure.”
He said in spite of being in the top list of professional colleges in
India, it has no full-time principal for the last nine years.
