AHMEDABAD: The narrow alleys of Ahmedabad’s centuries-old underbelly have suddenly become hot property. The ‘pol’ houses or havelis of the walled city are no longer junk from the past. For once, Amdavadis are showing some respect for their 600-year-old city with the moneyed few buying up antique ‘pol’ houses to preserve a piece of heritage.

Leading builders of Bakeri Group, entrepreneur Abhay Mangaldas, art connoisseur Umang Hutheesing, the Sarabhais and art director Ashish Lakhia are among a few who are either buying or eyeing property in ‘pols’.
