Dawood’s house need not be demolished, says court receiver
Architect firm appointed by court receiver says it is repairable
Express News Service
Mumbai, August 17: A Court receiver appointed by the Bombay High Court
has told the court that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s residence on the
second floor of Musafirkhana in Pakmodia Street need not be demolished.
He said that the house is repairable.

This issue is being contested by the trust who owns Musafirkhana—Haji
Ismail Haji Musafirkhana—which approached the special TADA court to
demolish the second floor as it is in a dilapidated condition thus
putting the 200-odd residents’ lives in danger.
The trustee, Shoaib Noorani, alleged that all the tenants residing in
the building are in fact encroachers.
He had also demanded police protection, fearing trouble from Dawood’s
associates if building were to be pulled down.
“Any building can be repaired, but at what cost. Our contention is that
the cost far exceeds the benefit. In any case, these tenants have
overstayed and have no rights over the building,” said R V Govilkar, who
appeared for the trust.
