Pune, September 4: PUNE-BORN architect Padmashree Balkrishna Vithaldas
Doshi who will be turning 80 on Saturday, will be felicitated in a
three-day programme by Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for
Women (BNCA) beginning Saturday.
Doshi who was born and brought up in the city, is currently based in
Ahmedabad and has achieved national and international repute not just as
an architect but also as an educationist. Along side architects Achyut
Kanvide and Charles Correa, he is considered to be a pillar of modern
Indian architecture. Doshi began his career working with architect Le
Corbusier in Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex and is the only Indian
architect to have ever worked with Corbusier and Louis Kahn who are
touted to have shaped the course of modern architecture. Doshi went on
to be a founder of CEPT University, Ahmedabad — an institute for
architecture and planning.
