A conservation architect, chosen by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation
(BMC) for internal, external restoration and service upgradation of
Crawford market, has submitted her proposal to the civic body on
September 1. BMC had assigned the project to conservation architect Abha
Narain-Lambah in June.
Contrary to the 11-storey highrise proposal prepared by a private
developer, Lambah’s plan consists of a low-rise (ground plus three
storeys) development using 1.33 floor space index (FSI), which rehouses
the entire market, along with an underground parking. Her team is
already carried out detailed surveys of the entire Grade I complex,
prepared drawings, and is waiting for the green signal from the BMC.
