Delhi is expanding. You hear it in hum of construction around you. You see it in the iron rafters jutting out of the earth at building sites and the apartment towers that blot out the sky. Beauty? That’s only a burden borne by relics of the past. As he leans against the walls of the 15th Century Bara Gumbad, writer-architect Gautam Bhatia agrees, “Delhi has become a city to be passed by. It’s developing in a way that has no sense of containment or identity. Buildings here do not speak to each other.”
