NEW DELHI: The Capital’s Jantar Mantar, the 18th century observatory
with its complex astronomical instruments, will soon be restored to its
original shape and function to serve as one of the centres for studies
in basic astronomy.

Celebrated as the logo of the 1982 Delhi Asiad, the observatory set up
by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur, now serves as the
venue for all sorts of protests rather than help people understand the
wonders of astronomy.
