Dear Friends,
Kindly read the enclosed correspondence between DUAC (Delhi Urban Arts
Commission) and the DDA (Delhi Development Authority) from 1997. These
observations gain importance in the light of the en masse resignation by the
entire membership of DUAC recently.
Notable also is the summary fashion (read the tabular statement) in which
DDA had disposed off the observations of DUAC in the matter. (It has been
seen that such summary disposal is a norm than an exception by the DDA, when
suggestions / objections are raised on a public notice sent out by the DDA.
This turns any such public consultation into nothing more than a ritualistic
sham !).
If only either DDA had listened to DUAC or DUAC had put its foot down firmly
on the designs of DDA on the river bed, we would not be faced with the
unfortunate situation of today, when despite the state's evil designs on the
river bed having been exposed for all to see, construction in the river bed
by DMRC and DDA continues merrily.
These facts have been brought to the notice of the Hon'ble HC of Delhi in
the Rajendra Singh & Ano Vs Govt of Delhi & Ano case, the judgement in which
is currently reserved.
Needless to add that we await the judgement anxiously with ofcourse our
fingers crossed.
